18650 fits ok. Wires are thin - compare them with 0.55 drill. When measured with caliper it is ~0.1-0.15 mm range (from few very thin wires twisted together). As well connecting to spring is under ring and a rivet, not sure if strong enough. Not for big current - will say 0.1A is secure. Over 1A probably will go hot and can be unsafe.
