It records well as described in mp3, at 128kbps. The quality of created files is almost the same as you hear from cassette player. However, not all USB dongles can be used. I tried a microSD to USB adapter, a card reader and a very old USB dongle. I tried them with different filesystems (fat, fat32, exfat). All of them successfully opened on a PC, but only a card reader could be used for recording with this device. I don't know why this is so.
